Between October 13-20, several online and print media and broadcast news covered the EuroFIT Project. Working with FMH, FC Porto, Sporting CP and SL Benfica will help about 240 fans to become active and lose weight. Each club will train about 80 male fans from November 2015 to February 2016, and from September to December 2016. More information about this project HERE.

The Repository of Psychosocial and Self-Regulation Measures for Exercise, Eating and Weight Management (RIAP) launched a new website, with improved functionality, design, and navigation. More information about this project HERE.

The PANO research group was represented at the 1st Conference on Sports, Education, Physical Activity and Health (REAFES), on October 22-25th, at Lusófona University. Marlene Silva and António Palmeira organized a symposium on "The "dark" side of motivational intervention in the promotion of physical activity: proposals of explanation and solution". Pedro Teixeira presented the keynote lecture "The evidence and the theory of health behaviors modification: an itinerary for the future". More information about the conference HERE.

NoHoW Project

On November 7, several online media covered the NoHoW Project that, over the next five years, will test whether ICT-based delivery of theory- and evidence-based behavior change techniques can be effective for weight loss maintenance. More details about the project HERE.

PANO at the ObesityWeek 2015

PANO was represented at the Obesity Week 2015 in Los Angeles, California (November 2-6th). Marlene Silva participated with a free communication (poster) titled "Profiles of motivational strategies used by professionals to promote exercise behaviors". More information HERE.

The EuroFIT trial started in Portugal at FC Porto, Sporting CP and SL Benfica. About 120 men will attend weekly sessions at their clubs, having the opportunity to increase their physical activity levels and adopt healthier lifestyles. More information about the programme HERE.

EuroFIT project meeting

Pedro Teixeira, Marlene Silva and Hugo Pereira participated in the EuroFIT project meeting, in Manchester (November 10-12). The Portuguese team reported on "Learning on process of fieldwork & trial management" and contributed to the general discussion on validation of the SitFIT device, results of the feasibility assessment of the EuroFIT programme in Everton and progress of the randomised controlled trial now underway in the Netherlans, United Kingdom and Portugal. Planning for the next phase of the project, replication of the programme in new clubs, was also a key focus of the meeting. More about this project HERE.

"Portugal FIT"

PANO researchers were present at the event "Portugal FIT", at MEO ARENA, Lisbon (28-29th November). António Palmeira, Hugo Pereira, Marlene Silva and Rui Jorge participated on the Rituals for Healthy Living Conferences. Over 20,000 people attended the two day event. More information HERE.

On December 9th, the Faculty of Human Kinetics - University of Lisbon (FMH-UL) hosted the International Seminar on "Energy Balance in Health and Disease", organized by the CIPER – Healthy Weight Group (FMH-UL). The seminar brought together national and international experts on energy balance, featuring keynote presentations by Profs. Manfred Muller and Anja Bosy-Westphal, among others. More information HERE.
