Marta Marques was appointed co-editor of The European Health Psychology (EHP), the official bulletin of the European Health Psychological Society. The EHP publishes a variety of scientific contributions such as reflections on professional items, methodological issues and current changes and directions in health psychology.

On January 27, Eliana Carraça presented a seminar titled "The influence of physical activity on eating behavior" as part of the doctoral program in Human Movement at FMH. The talk described the influence of physical activity on physiological and psychological processes of eating behaviors, and was attended by 20 doctoral students at FMH.

PANO was represented at the 10th National Conference on Health Psychology in Porto (February 6-8th). Marta Marques facilitated a workshop on "Introduction to systematic reviews and meta-analyses in Health Psychology", and presented the FCT-funded project "An Open-Access Repository of Self-Regulation Measures for Exercise, Eating, and Weight Control". 20th European Congress on Obesity

Pedro Teixeira gave an interview to the European Food Information Council (EUFIC) at the 20th European Congress on Obesity (ECO) in Liverpool (May 2013). The interview provides an overview of his talk titled "A systematic review of self-regulation mediators of success in obesity interventions: The SPOTLIGHT project".

On March 7th, Pedro Teixeira participated as an invited speaker in a symposium on "Examining the Motivational Processes that Foster a Sustained Healthy Life Style and Well-being in Clinical and Non-Clinical Populations", hosted by Ghent University in Ghent, Belgium. His talk focused on Self-determined motivation and weight control.

Pedro Teixeira gave a presentation titled “Self- control or self-regulation of health and associated behaviors?” in a Cycle of Lectures on Biotechnology at Superior School of Biotechnology of Catholic University, Porto (24th March). More information about this conference HERE.

Between April 8-11th, the 5th International Congress on Physical Activity and Public Health took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. On behalf of ISBNPA, Pedro Teixeira participated in a symposium with a presentation titled "Back to Basics in Health Behavior Change: Determinants and Sucessful Interventions Across the Lifespan". The PANO research group was represented at the 35th Annual Meeting of the Society of Behavioral Medicine (SBM), between April 23-26th, in Philadelphia. Pedro Teixeira participated in the keynote debate titled "Promoting Health Behavior Change: Behavioral Economics Meets Self-Determination" (Kevin Volpp was the opponent, see more HERE); and Marlene Silva presented a free communication (poster) titled "The bright and dark sides of motivation: mediators of controlling vs. autonomy-supportive practices in exercise settings". On May 10, at Lusófona University, Pedro Teixeira gave an invited lecture on "Weight Self-Regulation at Financial Benefits Age", on the sequence of the keynote debate of the 35th Annual Meeting of the Society of Behavioral Medicine.

Between May 21-24, PANO researchers participated in the 13th Annual Meeting of the International Society for Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity in San Diego, California. More information about the event HERE.
