António Palmeira and Marta Marques participated in the NoHoW project meeting, in Málaga (February 18-19). Preparations for the trial in the UK, Portugal and Denmark are now at an advanced stage. More information about the project HERE.
EuroFIT featured on Euronews TV
The EuroFIT was featured on Euronews TV. The project, that aims to promote sport among football fans, shows that it's possible to encourage lifestyle changes and, at the same time, to prevent many diseases. Full report HERE.
CIPER | SR at the 11th National Conference on Health Psychology in Lisbon
PANO was represented at the 11th National Conference on Health Psychology in Lisbon (January 26-29th). Pedro Teixeira presented the keynote lecture "Motivation and self-regulation in health behavior change". Marta Marques facilitated the pre-conference workshop on "Development and assessment of health behavior change interventions" and gave a talk entitled "Development of digital tools for long-term weight management: The NoHoW project" in a symposium targeting theoretically-based behavioral change interventions. Marlene Silva participated with a presentation on the EuroFIT project, as an example to illustrate how theory can be used to guide intervention development. Seminar "Energy Balance in Health and Disease"
On December 9th, the Faculty of Human Kinetics - University of Lisbon (FMH-UL) hosted the International Seminar on "Energy Balance in Health and Disease", organized by the CIPER – Healthy Weight Group (FMH-UL). The seminar brought together national and international experts on energy balance, featuring keynote presentations by Profs. Manfred Muller and Anja Bosy-Westphal, among others. PANO researchers were present at the event "Portugal FIT", at MEO ARENA, Lisbon (28-29th November). António Palmeira, Hugo Pereira, Marlene Silva and Rui Jorge participated on the Rituals for Healthy Living Conferences. Over 20,000 people attended the two day event. More information HERE.
EuroFIT project meeting
Pedro Teixeira, Marlene Silva and Hugo Pereira participated in the EuroFIT project meeting, in Manchester (November 10-12). The Portuguese team reported on "Learning on process of fieldwork & trial management" and contributed to the general discussion on validation of the SitFIT device, results of the feasibility assessment of the EuroFIT programme in Everton and progress of the randomised controlled trial now underway in the Netherlans, United Kingdom and Portugal. Planning for the next phase of the project, replication of the programme in new clubs, was also a key focus of the meeting. More about this project HERE.

The EuroFIT trial started in Portugal at FC Porto, Sporting CP and SL Benfica. About 120 men will attend weekly sessions at their clubs, having the opportunity to increase their physical activity levels and adopt healthier lifestyles. More information about the programme HERE.

PANO was represented at the Obesity Week 2015 in Los Angeles, California (November 2-6th). Marlene Silva participated with a free communication (poster) titled "Profiles of motivational strategies used by professionals to promote exercise behaviors". More information HERE.

The PANO research group was represented at the 1st Conference on Sports, Education, Physical Activity and Health (REAFES), on October 22-25th, at Lusófona University. Several online and print media and broadcast news covered the EuroFIT Project
Between October 13-20, several online and print media and broadcast news covered the EuroFIT Project. Working with FMH, FC Porto, Sporting CP and SL Benfica will help about 240 fans to become active and lose weight. Each club will train about 80 male fans from November 2015 to February 2016, and from September to December 2016. More information about this project HERE.
EuroFIT Coach Training
Training for coaches who will deliver the EuroFIT programme in Portugal was held 13-14 October. The training, led by Marlene Silva and Hugo Pereira, happened at the National Stadium facilities and included three coaches from each team (FC Porto, Sporting CP, and SL Benfica). The two-day training aimed to be interactive and to give the coaches some practical experience of delivering key components of the EuroFIT programme, including mock deliveries. National Food, Nutrition and Physical Activity Survey
The public presentation of the National Food, Nutrition and Physical Activity Survey took place on September 18 in the University of Porto. Pedro Teixeira, on behalf of FMH - University of Lisbon, is a researcher of the project, that aims to collect national information on food consumption and on physical activity and its relation with health determinants. International Congress on Obesity and Binge Eating
PANO was represented at the International Congress on Obesity and Binge Eating (ICOBE 2015) in Coimbra (September 25-26). Marta Marques presented the H2020 NoHoW Project and Pedro Teixeira gave a talk on the PESO Program. More information about the conference HERE.
On September 16-17, the NoHoW international team met in Lisbon to discuss lessons learned about weight loss maintenance through the ongoing development of the NoHoW Toolkit and to plan the next steps for the successful implementation of the trial. More information about the project HERE.
EuroFIT fieldworkers training
On September 14 and 16, the EuroFIT fieldworkers training took place at the Stadiums of Dragão and Jamor. This meeting was attended by 25 professionals of the fields of Exercise and Health that will insure the conduction of the measurements on FC Porto, Sporting CP, and SL Benfica, under the coordination of the Portuguese EuroFIT research team.

PANO was represented at the 29th European Health Psychology Conference in Cyprus (September 1-5). Pedro Teixeira and Marta Marques participated in the pre-conference Sinergy Expert Meeting on "Mhealth for behavior change: Opportunities, challenges and future directions".
