Hugo Pereira, Inês Santos, Jorge Encantado, and António Palmeira participated in the 17th ISBNPA Annual Meeting in Hong Kong (June 3-6). Between May 23-26, CIPER | Self-Regulation researchers participated in the 25th European Congress on Obesity, in Vienna, Austria. Marta Marques gave a talk on "Towards a consensus on developing the next generation of WLM interventions" at a symposium hosted by the NoHoW project. EuroFIT consortium meeting at Lisbon
FMH hosted the final EuroFIT consortium meeting, that took place in Lisbon, Portugal (May 8-9). The meeting entailed work package updates, publication planning, presentations on the latest results, discussions on implementation of the project findings, and final reflections and future priorities. Marlene N. Silva at Autonomous University of Lisbon (UAL)
CIPER | Self-Regulation participated in a conference organized by the Autonomous University of Lisbon (UAL) on January 11. Marlene N. Silva gave a presentation on community interventions to promote health behaviors, highlighting the EuroFIT project. On December 3-4, the Faculty of Human Kinetics – University of Lisbon hosted the VIII Running International Congress. 21st Portuguese Congress on Obesity
CIPER | Self-Regulation research group was represented at the 21st Portuguese Congress on Obesity (SPEO) in Aveiro, Portugal (November 24-26). Marlene N. Silva and António Palmeira participated in a Symposium on the promotion of motivation and self-regulation for weight management. Inês Santos wins Young Nutritionist Merit Award 2017
Inês Santos, PhD, was the winner of the Young Nutritionist Merit Award 2017 attributed by the Portuguese Nutritionists Association (Ordem). She received the award on November 22 and was distinguished for her dissertation work at FMH in the CIPER | Self-Regulation research group.
EuroFIT consortium meeting
Between November 21-23, Marlene Silva and Hugo Pereira participated in the EuroFIT consortium meeting, in Edinburgh. Dissemination strategies for the last year of the project (roll out licensing system, publications, dissemination) were the main topic under discussion. More information about this project HERE.
EuroFIT Coach Training at the “City of Football”
On November 14-15, coaches from Braga and Rio Ave football clubs received their coach training, together with some former FMH-University of Lisbon students. These clubs will start recruitment and plan to begin the EuroFIT program in January 2018. The training occurred at the home of the Portuguese National Team, and was led by Marlene Silva and Hugo Pereira, with the assistance of former EuroFIT coaches from SL Benfica and FC Porto. Inês Santos completed her PhD in Physical Activity and Health
Inês Santos, researcher at the PANO-SR Research Group, successfully defended her doctoral dissertation titled "Attempting and achieving weight loss and maintenance." on September 21 at Faculty of Human Kinetics, University of Lisbon.
CIPER | Self-Regulation at the Exercise is Medicine Symposium
On September 15-16, the 6th Annual Symposium of the European Initiative for Exercise in Medicine took place in Lisbon. The Faculty of Human Kinetics (FMH – UL) and the Directorate-General of Health (DGS) co-organized the symposium that brought together national and international experts on Exercise, Medicine and Health.
